Australian Bookplate Design EXHIBITION 2007

The Keith Wingrove Memorial Trust in conjunction with The Australian Bookplate Society will launch the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award at an exhibition of Australian and International Bookplates on 28 August 2007 at Delshan Art Gallery, 1185 High Street, Armadale, Victoria. The exhibition will hang for a two week period.

A first prize of AUD$7,500 is offered for the best Bookplate design making the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award the richest Bookplate design prize in the world.

On display will hundreds of Bookplates from the early period of the Australian Bookplate movement as well as contemporary work by well known artists together with a selection of the best designs submitted for the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award including primary and secondary school students, emerging artists & designers and established fine artists. Also on show will be some books about Bookplates featuring a special display of books and printed ephemera from the early period.

The exhibition will feature:

1. The complete Bookplates of well known artist and author of children's books Irena Sibley spanning a twenty year period.

2. Thirty woodengraved Bookplates by David Frazer.

3. A collection of contemporary Bookplates from the United States of America.

4. The Bookplates of Vane Lindesay.

5. The complete Bookplates of Allan Jordan

6. Australian Bookplates from 1900 to 1950.

7. Bookplates designed for Edwin Jewell and his family.

8. A collection of contemporary juvenile Bookplates.

9. An extensive collection of erotic Bookplates.

10. Selected Bookplates submitted for the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award.

11. Private Press books and other publications about Bookplates.

Many of the Bookplates exhibited will be offered for sale. Some of the Private Press and other books about Bookplates will also be offered for sale.

Artists, designers, students and any would-be Bookplate designers (as well as any interested party or collector of Bookplates and Bookplate ephemera) are all invited to obtain an information brochure about the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award from The Keith Wingrove Memorial Trust.

The Keith Wingrove Memorial Trust exists to promote the development of Bookplate collecting and Bookplate design in Australia. Only Australian citizens are eligible to enter the 2007 Keith Wingrove Bookplate Design Award.
